Sergeant Kelling began his law enforcement career in 1993 with the Dodge City Police Department.  While at Dodge City he worked as a patrol officer, detective and sergeant.  In 2004 Sgt. Kelling and his family moved to Kansas City where he worked briefly for the Shawnee Mission School District Police before receiving a position with the Mission Police Department.  Sgt. Kelling worked as a patrol officer and Sergeant in Mission, Kansas.


In 2011 Sgt. Kelling continued his career by obtaining a position with the Pratt Police Department and then in 2013 obtaining a position with the Edwardsville Police Department.  Sgt. Kelling worked for Edwardsville for several years, obtaining the rank of Sergeant there as well.  


In 2018 Sgt. Kelling came to the Bonner Springs Police Department and was promoted to Sergeant in 2019.  Sgt. Kelling serves as the Field Training Officer program supervisor and Peer Support group manager.  Sgt. Kelling currently supervises the Investigations Bureau.


Sgt. Kelling has an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice from Garden City Community College and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Barclay College.
