1. Can I have chickens in my back yard?

Chicken Permits are required to keep up to 6 hens. Roosters are prohibited.

2. How many pets can I have?

Each residence is allowed 3 pets. Additional pets (up to 7) may be kept with an approved Kennel Permit.

3. WHat should I do if I have lost or found a pet?

If you have lost a pet, contact Animal Control at 913-422-7800 ext. 1579.  You can also email us at kanthony@bonnerpd.org

If you have found a pet, call our Dispatch at 913-596-3000. Officers will collect the animal, scan for a microchip and keep the pet safe until an owner can be located.

4. Are Animal Licenses required in Bonner Springs?

Yes.  Dogs and cats over 6 months of age are required to be spayed/neutered and registered with the City annually.  The permit application is located here>> Animal License Permit

5. I have a raccoon getting in my trash. What can I do?

Secure your trash cans and eliminate any food source on your property. If the problem persists, contact a wildlife removal company.

Animal Control will only respond for sick/injured wildlife.

6. My neighbor's dog barks constantly. What can I do?

Call Animal Control (913) 422-7800 or after hours (913) 596-3000. There IS an ordinance for nuisance/noisy animals.

7. If I've lost (or found) a dog / cat, what's my first step?

Call Animal Control to report a lost / found animal at (913) 422-7800. Animal Control will assist in reuniting it with its owner(s).
