The Fire Chief has issued a burn ban in effect now and until further notice. The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill has issued the following Red Flag Warning.


...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON ON MONDAY UNTIL 8 PM
MONDAY EVENING CORRECTED FOR HEADING...

.RELATIVE HUMIDITY WILL DROP ONCE AGAIN INTO THE 10 TO 20 PERCENT
RANGE ACROSS ALL OF NORTHEAST KANSAS AND NORTHWEST AND CENTRAL
MISSOURI. SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL BE AROUND 20 MPH...WITH GUSTS
APPROACHING 30 MPH. THE COMBINATION OF THE DRY AND WINDY
CONDITIONS WILL BRING VERY HIGH TO EXTREME FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL
TO THE AREA. ANY FIRES THAT IGNITE THIS AFTERNOON WILL HAVE THE
NECESSARY INGREDIENTS...INCLUDING DRY FUELS...TO SPREAD VERY
QUICKLY. OUTDOOR BURNING IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED ON MONDAY.
