The Public Works Department consists of a variety of different divisions with a common goal of providing vital city services to citizens of Bonner Springs. These divisions operate and maintain the City's infrastructure and maintenance (facilities & structures, street and stormwater maintenance, pavement management), drinking water supply and distribution system, wastewater collection system and wastewater treatment, and at publicly operated cemetery.
In 2016, as part of the consolidation of the formally separate Public Works Department and Utility Department, the City completed an Efficiency Report to assist in realizing how the new Department can be run most efficiently. Several of the suggested items of the report have been or are in the process of being complete.
