  1. Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition "Bittersweet Harvest: The Bracero Program 1942-1964"

    August 1 - November 16 @ Wyandotte County Historical Museum

    The bracero program was a bi-national agreement between the U.S. and Mexico that allowed for bringing in contract workers to the U.S. Bracero is a term used in Mexico for a manual laborer. During the bracero program, braceros were allowed to stay within the U.S. for up to 18 months, after which they had to return to Mexico. They were allowed to come back if they were re-contracted.

    September 24 - October 31 @ Locations will be available after September 19, 2014.

    Let's decorate Bonner Springs for fall with Scarecrows on Parade! Businesses, organizations and residents are invited to participate in this fun, fall community event. Entries are due by September 19 and judging will occur on Friday, October 3, 2014. Prizes awarded for the following categories: Best Residential - $50; Best Promotion of Business - $50; Best Not-for-Profit Organization - $50; Best of Show - $100.
