Bonner Springs Emergency Medical Services is committed to the constant pursuit of excellence in the provision of quality medical care to our community.
Our departmental staff consists of 46 State certified attendants. We have 38 volunteers, five full time paid staff, and three part time paid staff.
The EMS Department is responsible for all 9-1-1 EMS calls for service in the City of Bonner Springs. The department averages 1,000 calls for service per year. We also provide stand-by at high school football games, kids wrestling, and numerous functions at area events. We provide all the patient transports from Sandstone Amphitheater and the Renaissance Festival.
We currently have two ambulances, our first out ambulance is staffed 24/7 with a combination of paid and volunteer staff. A paramedic is on duty 24/7; a paid EMT is on duty from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. Volunteers fill the remaining shifts from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am and 24 hours on Sundays, most of the time we have a three person crew. The second out ambulance is not staffed but filled with volunteers and paid staff that are available when the unit is needed.
