Training is provided in-house and through state and regionally sponsored fire service seminars. A member becomes a Nationally Certified Firefighter I during the first year with the department. Most firefighters then achieve their Nationally Certified Firefighter II. In addition, nearly one half of the members are Kansas Certified Emergency Medical Technicians.
Regular training is held monthly on the second Thursday of each month. Members attend training to refresh skills and tactics as well as learn new processes and procedures to keep current in the ever changing fields of rescue, fire suppression, and emergency medicine. More intensive training is held on various weekends throughout the year.
